MOST APPROPRIATE COURSE OF ACTION

Andy Arthur writes:

We often get asked to help with establishing the best course of action for dealing with individual properties and groups of properties. The reasons are many and varied. Sometimes it helps having an independent person to carry out the assessment, for example, when the issues are particularly sensitive, or when allegations of bias may have been made

Whilst the process is essentially fairly straightforward, it can't be done without having fully exhausted the generation of all the possible options, or having accurately costed those options

Often straightforward solutions to issues are overlooked in favour of unnecessarily complex and expensive ones. We were recently involved with a case dealing with instability of adjacent land which resulted in significant hazards to the property in question which was anticipated to worsen unless a solution could be found. By examining existing geo-technical data and using a unique engineering solution, we managed to find a cost effective solution for stabilising the land in question and managing the hazard
